Pictures Driving Vast Change

I took this in a public park, about 200 yards from where we live in Boston. It speaks to the political tension of our times. There was a big protest scheduled for later in the afternoon and these young folks were apparently checking out the area. Maybe it’s just me but, I can feel tension and potential violence in the image.

The media lately has been full of articles about how much videos and photographs have helped drive America’s move towards racial equality. What a wonderful use for our images!

Around The Corner

In good old USA, the richest country on earth, there is terrible inequality. To me this means that we are approaching a time when this disparity of wealth will become a dangerous problem. I’m not going to go on with this political rant any longer. Suffice it to say this photograph made me think of it.

I’m hoping this image helps to underline my point.

The Younger Generation

These two pumpkins were sitting in a Beacon Hill entryway as I clumped down to Charles Street to buy our Sunday Papers. I initially thought I would title this image “Mother and Child” or “Still life with Pumpkins”. Those titles probably would have worked OK but I think the current one works better.

Society is always at a time when the young start replacing the old in leadership positions. That transition is particularly relevant in today’s fractious political climate. I fervently hope that those who will lead this nation in the years to come take their increasing responsibility VERY seriously.

And you thought this post was only about a photograph of pumpkins!

It’s Getting VERY Serious!

I certainly can’t claim that Boston is a bastion of conservatism but when I saw this truck it’s becoming increasingly clear that we’re in for a battle royal in the coming months.

Strung Out…Big Time

large-0020204.jpg

It may be because it’s raining right now or I just watched a powerful video on the events of 9/11 that I’m posting this photo. Somehow this drug addict seems emblematic of the mental state of our President. Scrounging around for the next media high to fuel his insatiable ego, regardless of the suffering involved.

This poor guy and Donald Trump desperately need help. I pray they get it.

I would prefer to believe she was thinking of our present political situation and this was a scream instead of a yawn.

Our Gold Fixation (a political rant)

large-.jpg

We live fairly near the Massachusetts State House. It’s a lovely historic building with a golden dome. Yes GOLD! (shillings, notes, duckets, loot, bones, coin, folding stuff, honk, lolly, lucre, moolah)

The current Washington political climate seems almost totally fixated on moving money around mostly to benefit big corporations and very wealthy people. Forget better health care, foul the environment, make it easy to buy automatic weapons, pardon the guilty and encourage racism but, for goodness sake move that gold around to benefit your friends.

I so damn tired of this heartless approach to everything!
