Zen Tree Grove

This grove of trees is in Petaluma, California’s Helen Putnam Park. It’s a little less than an hour north of San Francisco in Sonoma county. To my eye, the absence of color and the muted gray tones make this a very meditative image.

Backyard Gold

What you see above is our rainy day antidote. It’s been raining for so long around here my wife Sarah bought this bunch of golden flowers to drive away the gloom. There’s an old shed in our back yard that served as an appropriate backdrop. It’s old water soaked boards provides a pretty good stand in for the current climate.

Storm Coming

Passed this lady going into town today. She didn’t look very happy. I don’t know whether she was peeved with my camera or the fact that it was pretty obvious that she was about to get very wet.

One further thing. I believe the picket fence was a huge help with this composition.

Finallyly, I shot this photo with an Olympus EM1 MK II. It’s quite a machine. Complicated as hell but I suspect, once mastered, I’ll love it.

Railing

For me, this small muddy creek and a weathered rotting railing  team up to make a mental barrier to the beauty that lays beyond.
