It’s not often that one sees a rescue dog with an Instagram handle posing in the middle of a window of a fancy photo studio.( Maybe the previous sentence is an overstatement. Let’s change “It’s not often that one…” to “One never…”)
We live in very scary times. Anger, hostility and major confusion are all around us. This man, hugging his dog on a bench at Boston’s Public Library, seems to have found a sheltered Island from all this craziness. His devotion to the little dog is palpable.
This soft eyed creature was lying in the window of a photo studio near where we live. There was no way I wasn’t going to take its picture.
Actually I was a little late taking this photograph. About 5 seconds before this the young man was hugging his dog in a loving embrace. Nevertheless the warm relationship between human and pet is still hard to miss.
Today we were walking along the banks of the Petaluma River looking for birds, when we came across this friendly couple looking like they were doing the same thing.
A couple of fine friends! Kevin is a very accomplished bluegrass musician and Cupcake is his wife’s blind, ten year old little poodle who really likes to go out on street gigs.
Well I just broke my resolution in the last post. I said not cat videos but a cute dog portrait is almost the same thing. Sorry! (not really)
Every day this lady takes her dog friend to the ice cream truck on the corner of Arlington and Boylston Streets and buys it a small cup of vanilla. It’s their daily ritual.
She always buys herself a cone.
Old age slows us down. That’s a given. But there are some people who accept their infirmities gracefully and just keep on chugging. This guy is one of them. He’s almost deaf and walks very slowly, bent over with a cane. He’s kind, always polite, almost courtly.
When I took this picture, he was trudging back to his house after taking his beloved Corgi for a walk. It’s a regular part of his day and we’ve never seen him go by without his sportcoat on even though his place is deep in the country and there is no need for that kind of formality.
The dog and he are such close companions. It is always lovely to see the two of them together.
