A Pessimistic Summary Of Current Events

After the last few days of widespread, sometimes violent, protests about the George Floyd killing and the economic devastation brought on by Covid-19, I tried to find a couple of recent photographs that might sum up my current feelings. Here they are.

Colorful Covid Costume

I’m getting tired of posting doom and gloom monochrome images telling of the difficult times we’re going through, sooo here’s a change of pace. Yes, we are still under a shelter at home order. Yes, we are directed to wear masks when we venture out AND yes, there’s also a curfew in place.

BUT this Beacon Hill matron is doing it with so much style, one can’t help but smile.

More A Feeling Than A Photo

Somehow color and clarity seem out of place in today’s buttoned up, locked down world. Spring flowers and the greening grass try valiantly to dispel the current gloom. Maybe someday……

The Black Tree Mood

Yesterday’s, was clear and sunny and this photograph was taken in color. So why the dingy monochrome look? The simple answer is, it’s the way I felt.

This Covid-19 lockdown is getting on my nerves. The photograph could have and maybe even should have been developed as a colorful landscape. I just couldn’t do it.

It’s going to rain quite a bit this week.

Together

It’s been quite a few weeks since I posted something here. A neglect caused by laziness, change in thinking, or just plain fear, I’m not sure. When I stumbled across this photo today, I found I wanted to share it.

The couple is my stepson and his girlfriend hiking in Petaluma, California. They’re cresting a ridge in the Helen Putnam Regional Park. Nothing in front of them but grey cloudless sky. Their formless way ahead reminded me what we all are facing currently with the Covid-19 epidemic.

The way they’re doing it is the way we should.
