This is just a snippet of a much larger file showing a Beacon Hill matron walking down Charles Street. The bigger image isn’t all that bad but her face is where most of the interest is so I just cut the rest away. The street shooting purists will frown at this approach but I believe cropping isn’t a mortal sin if the result is worth sacrificing the pixels.

He seems bright and articulate. He’s been on this spot on Cambridge Street in Boston for 20 years. He commutes in from his studio apartment in the town of Malden every day.
“I make my rent this way.”

Living in Boston as we do, Starbucks coffee shops are everywhere. This one is just down the hill from us and I go there every Sunday morning to pick up the Boston Globe and the New York Times. Even as late as 8:30 or 9:00 a lot of the regulars still haven’t shown up. Today I had the good fortune of taking a photograph of this guy who seemed either to be reading the paper of nursing a gigantic hangover.

I don’t know about you but I am often somewhat confused about why I write this blog. There’s the “show interesting photos to others” component and there’s the “look at me I’m an artist” one also. But I guess at the end of the day the driving motive for me is I like reaching out to people I don’t really know and striking up a conversation. After all we are all on this crazy journey atop this fragile blue planet and we are desperately hoping things will turn out for the best.
