It’s often as much about the context as the subject itself.
The bird helped a lot.
It’s too bad this egret’s head is obscured by the bush but none the less its wings are great. The bird didn’t really want to take off and did so only at the last second, so I was able to get a pretty good closeup of it. I think showing it in black and white emphasizes the wings nicely.
My wife is really the birder. I tag along taking pictures. This is a black-necked stilt admiring its reflection. I love the red legs.
This little bird had just crashed into a glass door. As the stunned (and maybe dying) feathered creature lay on the sidewalk, a nice man took out his handkerchief and tried giving it CPR…..Little acts of kindness make my day!
It’s pretty unusual to be street shooting with a little camera like the Ricoh GR and come away with a picture like this. This bird was one of flock of pigeons that came barreling over me while I was walking through the Boston Public Garden. Silhouetted against the sun, it created a fine center point. The snap focus feature on the camera made it possible.
