Floating Cobblestones


These cobblestones floating in Boston’s Fort Point Channel are the work of artist Don Eyles. They are said to mark “Boston’s past and future history”. Maybe so, but for me equating something that looks like a granite pyramid, a floating one no less, with the colonial history of our city is quite a stretch.

As far as I’m concerned the orange buoy in the background gives this image as much punch as does the raft of rocks in front. All this griping however, is not meant to denegrate the artist’s technical skill, which is obvious and considerable.

DSCF0110small.jpgFor those of us who are afflicted with a terrible urge to buy the latest and the greatest new digital camera thingy, take a look at this guy. I saw him yesterday wandering across Charles Street toward the Public Garden.

I bet he takes really great photographs with this antique.
