I tried to congratulate him on the nice job he was doing. I don’t think he really heard me. However, his goofy smile was fun.
It’s going to be over 90 degrees with high humidity again today. This little girl sitting by the edge of the Frog Pond is obviously soaked. My guess is she’s enjoying it very much.
To be honest, taking this kind of photograph gets more troubling with the passage of time. I see too many of these people, many of them young like this man. I don’t know if this is a drug overdose but I do know, passed out like this in a subway station isn’t a sign of a healthy person.
It was 87 degrees when I made this photograph so I’m unsure why this man is wearing his hat. His gaze is definitely unsettling. However, I’ve been doing this street shooting long enough to resist conclusions about his character. That said, I’m glad he didn’t see my camera.
There are some folks on the street of this city that I’d prefer not tangling with. In situations like these my tiny Ricoh camera is very helpful.

For the last few hot and steamy days, the cooling spray of the Frog Pond fountain has provided hundreds of local youngsters a happy relief. Standing on the edge of this splashing joyful gathering yesterday I wished I was 5 years old again. Come to think of it, sitting here today writing this I wish the same thing.
