Pigeon Feeding Frenzy

large-0010485.jpg

There are a number of people around Boston Common who feed the pigeons like this. Wads of breadcrumbs and popcorn are used to attract large gatherings of these birds who often land on their benefactor’s shoulders and arms to get closer to their handout.

If you look closely you’ll see sparrows and even an occasional starling enjoying the meal as well. But it’s the pushy livia domestica that get the most. What you don’t see off stage to the right are a couple of squirrels who will serve as the clean up crew.

Bowtie Wearer With Bad Knees I spent my early years in Massachusetts in a little town called Easton. I went to Harvard, served in the Navy as Operations Officer on and LST, founded a construction company and served in the state Legislature as Assistant Minority Leader. However my life really began when I moved to Maine and opened an art gallery. I've been around the fine arts in the commercial art business for over 25 years now and loved (almost) every minute of it. I look at every day is a gift, except when it's very cold outside or I have to go to the dentist.

I'd love to hear from you
